The Type of Faith God Sees

Updated Scripture & Worship- Enjoy!

I ask you to take a moment and think back to the last time that you really demonstrated your faith. I’m not talking about how frequently you go to church or how often you may pray for something, but when was the last time that you demonstrated your faith by your actions. Sadly, there are a lot of people who believe in God and have faith in Him but they are not living in the victory that God has for us, they deal with addictions, strongholds and vices that they cannot overcome. Some may ask why but I believe the answer is clearly stated in the Bible, James 2:14-What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? It’s one thing to believe and it’s commendable when we may pray for things, however we must put actions behind our faith in order to release the power of God.

paralyticThere is a story in Mark 2 where Jesus heals a crippled man because he sees his faith, Mark 2:1, 5- A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” You see it could have been very easy for the people who carried the man to Capernaum to turn around and leave when they noticed the house was packed, but they did not give up. Instead of leaving I can imagine the cripple saying “I don’t care how you do it, just get me to Jesus” because his faith was so strong. He decided to put action behind his faith and demonstrate his faith outwardly, because God saw his faith, he was healed.

There comes a time in our walk with Christ where we need to take our faith to the next level. We must show God by our actions that our faith is real and that we are willing to demonstrate it outwardly. If you’re praying and believing for God to give you a promotion at work, are you demonstrating it by showing up early and helping others at the job? If your praying for restoration of your marriage or relationship, are you treating your loved one the way they treat you or are you loving on them the way Jesus loves you? It doesn’t take a lot to demonstrate your faith or to put action behind your belief, sometimes it’s just as simple as taking the next step and trusting that God will honor it.

Luke 17:11-19 says, “Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, ‘Jesus, Master, have pity on us!’ When he saw them, he said, ‘Go, and show yourselves to the priests.’ And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him – and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, ‘Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?’ Then he said to him, ‘Rise and go; your faith has made you well.’” The above story is the perfect example of just how easy it is to put action behind your faith. When the men asked Jesus to heal them I’m sure they were expecting some miraculous recovery, a bright light or a thunderous voice from the clouds saying they were healed, but instead Jesus required them to take a step out in faith. He told them while they were still sick and outcasted to show themselves to the priests, which was unheard of in this day. It wasn’t until they left and followed His command that they were healed.

Faith1Our God is in the business of doing great things, He has always honored the prayers of the faithful and He always will. It is up to us to put action behind our belief and to have the kind of faith that God can see. For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4). Be bold and put feet to your faith, so that when all is said and done we too can say “I have fought the good (worthy, honorable, and noble) fight, I have finished the race, I have kept (firmly held) the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7 amp)
